Receive Your Miracles

(insights from books, articles and power talks by Joel Osteen and Bo Sanchez)

I believe that miracles are just right before our faces, right within our grasp. God actually has a warehouse of blessings just for us, and He desires to outpour these blessings, these miracles into our lives. But a lot of us fail to see and experience it.

The good news is God gave us the power to create miracles. Yes! We can achieve the miracles we want for our lives. Do you want a great future, a great family, a great financial life? We have the power to unlock these blessings. How? Let me share with you 4 strategies (I learned these both from Joel and Bo).

1. Prophesy Your Future

Ezekiel 37:4-10 says, “Then He said to me, prophesy over these bones and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord LORD of these bones: behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD.” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came upon them. Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord LORD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them,  and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.”

Words are powerful. They have creative power. Whenever we speak something, either good or bad, we give life to what we are saying. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of our tongue.” With our words, we can either bless our futures or we can curse our futures. Why are words powerful? Because thoughts are powerful. Our thoughts affect how we feel, how we behave, how we talk, how we respond, and how we live our lives. Words are powerful because words are spoken thoughts. Try this little experiment. Rest well during the night and  when you wake up in the morning, tell yourself how tiring it is to go to work. Repeat it every hour for rest of the day, and see how tired every cell in your body becomes even when you were well rested. What was happening? Your body responded to what you were saying and thinking about. The more you talk about something, the more you draw it in.

If words are so powerful, we’ve got to send our words out in the direction we want our lives to go. Prophesy your future. Declare “I am healthy, I am prosperous, I am blessed, the goodness and love of God follows me all the days of my life, God’s favor surrounds me always and forever.” If we catch ourselves thinking about negative thoughts, we need to zip it. We dont want to declare defeat into our future, we will turn it around and speak favor over our lives instead.

Do you want to make your dreams come true? Write them down. Write down what you want to happen with your life in paper and present it to the LORD. Tell Him during prayer, “Lord, this is what I want.” Writing down your dreams helps keep you from forgetting them. Sometimes, we have a vision, but with all the ups, downs and loops of life,  we forget it. Writing down your dreams helps you remember them. When you write your dreams down everyday, you help your brain to focus on the blessings that are coming your way. You help your brain attract to your life all the ingredients you need to fulfill that dream. It may take a while, but be persistent. You’ve got to make the decision that you can commit yourself to those dreams. If you have a heart committed to make it come true, it will come true.

One important thing to also remember is also to commit your dreams d plans to the LORD, for he is the source of all good things.

2.Have a Mindset of Victory

Proverbs 6:2 says, “We are snared by the words of our mouth.”

Before we can prophesy blessings into our futures, we must first change our mindset. Success is first an inside job. We all face problems every now and then. Some are small, others are tsunami big. These are inevitable as long as we are alive. But we must not mope around thinking we are sore losers. No!

I like this scene from the movie Moana. She was face to face with this lava monster, and she tells her, “I know who you are, do you know who you are?”  Let me tell you the same thing. Do you know who you are? Because I know who you are, and I am absolutely certain about this. YOU ARE THE CHILD OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD, and because you are  His child, you are favored. It is easy to have a mindset of victory when we know our Father is on our side and no matter what we are going  through, He’s got our back covered.

I know some people who can describe in detail the misfortunes they experience in life, and they repeat it over and over again like it was on top of the weekly music chart. A famous song we sing in church says,   “Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich.” Note that the lyrics do not encourage to let the weak keep on talking about their weakness, nor the poor to keep on talking about their poverty. Instead, it tells about doing the opposite.

Scripture tells that “We will eat the fruit of our words.”  That is why we should be careful of the words we let go about ourselves. We believe what we say about ourselves more than what everybody else says.

When the situation seems disappointing or impossible, have an attitude of victory. Instead of complaining, turn the situation around by  declaring favor into your life. Are you sick? Do not keep on talking about your illness. Say I am blessed to be alive. I am receiving the gift of healing.   Are you broke? Say “Finacial blessings are coming my way. New income generating opportunities are at hand.” Are you experiencing unfair situations? Say “God is the God of the turn around. He can make all things work together for my good.” The words that come out of our mouths go right back into our ears.Overtime, they will create the same image on the inside. Have a mindset of victory amd speak blessings over yourself.

3. Bless Your Loved Ones

A very familiar story in  the bible tells about Jacob and Esau. To sum it up, Jacob tricked his father, Isaac, into believing that he was Esau and thus, the blessing that was for Esau was spoken to and given to Jacob. Esau was enraged because Jacob took his blessing. So what’s the fuss about a few words from the lips of a dying old man? This is because the ancients understood that words create reality.

Speak words of praise, words of encouragement, and words of gratitude to your family and friends. Speak blessings over their future, especially to your children. What you say to them and what you say about them will greatly influence who and what they become inthe future.

I like the movie Mega Mind. It shows a perfect example of how words of influencial people (parents, guardians, teachers) can shape the mindset of children about themselves and the choices that they will make when they become adults. The words of the adults the children look up to  have the capacity to give love or take away love- the most powerful force in the planet.

A friend of mine once mentioned about her nephew who used to be naughty growing up. Although his parents worried about this behavior, their family consistently appreciated what a “good boy” he was. He eventually grew up to be a successful nurse now working in the states, and supporting the medical expenses of his 90 year old grand mother.

Tell your children positive words and fill their heads with good thoughts about themselves, even when they do not act it yet. Every night, I tell my sons that they are good boys and when I pray, I claim for them God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11.

4. Be Grateful

I don’t know if its just me or if other people can relate but one of the hardest thing to do as a Christian is to praise God and to be thankful when everything is difficult, when problems are pouring in like storms. But I have learned that praise and thanks giving in times of trials unlock the greatest blessings and miracles. Ever heard of the saying “If you praise, you’ll be raised.” God loves a grateful heart.

I like what Joel Osteen said in one of his FB status.”When you are in a situation that seems impossible, instead of being discouraged, get ready- you are in perfect position for God to show out in your life. He is setting you up to show you His favors in amazing ways.” Therefore, let us continually be thankful in abundance and in lack.

Let me share with you a prayer I always pray with my sons.
Lord, today, we thank you for your goodness and your love follows us alll the days of our lives. Thank you because your favor surrounds us always and forever. Thank you for always making sure that our jug of oil and  jar of flour never run dry. Thank you because we are healthy, prosperous, safe and protected. Amen.
